Alex: The Protestant

I'm Alex. I grew up in Queens, New York, one of the most diverse places on the planet, where I was blessed enough to meet people of all backgrounds and faiths. I have seen God's faithfulness over and over again in how he has directed my life to help me learn and grow from those around me. When I'm not recording podcasts, I'm probably either writing songs or occasionally even studying for my Philosophy degree. I'm super interested in how Jesus can be the source of truth of wisdom for EVERYONE- no matter your background! - Check out my personal blog www.alexandrakytka.com for essays on topics in religion or to see what I'm up to in and around London!

Katie: The Catholic

Hi there! I'm an American student studying History and International Relations at King's College London. I grew up in a Catholic church but was exposed to general Christianity through youth group and my friends. I consider myself a devout Catholic. A lot of the conversations Alex and I have had this year made me ask a lot of questions about my faith and the church, many of which we discuss in this podcast! Some questions I’ve found answers to, some I’m still looking for, but I know the best place to look is always the Bible. When I'm not working on the podcast, you can find me songwriting, traveling, or working on my blog. Check it out! www.theamericaninlondon.com

How the War Began

What started as an inside joke within a multi-denominational friendship quickly became a reality when Katie brought up the idea of creating the Religious War podcast to Alex in a Pret in Bloomsbury. They had made theological discourse a regular part of their Sunday friendship, often hanging out at that same Pret between Catholic mass in the morning and Protestant church in the evening. A few months later, and the pair had created a plan for a podcast to dive into topics of the Bible, culture, and religion in a fun-mannered, witty fashion. The podcast launched on October 7, 2019 with the first five episodes on most major streaming platforms.
