Is there any true right way to pray? What do we gain and what are the struggles in different versions of prayer? Is God a celebrity listener to this podcast?

In this episode, Alex and Katie tackle praying as a group at their new church in London, what the church teaches about praying alone, and how Catholics often use prescribed prayers.

References in this episode:
  • Alex and Katie discuss Matthew 6 in regards to whether you should pray alone or in a group.
  • Alex ends the episode with a prayer from Ephesians 3, starting with verse 14.

Are you a praying person? If so, how do you pray? If not, does it seem weird? These questions at more- discuss on our twitter @religiouswarpod.

Thanks!
Alex and Katie

Hey guys! I just listened to this episode! I started fairly late, and didn’t finish, but boy did I have a lot of thoughts. I am a Catholic who does very many what is considered ‘protestant’ ways of prayer, like the praying in groups, laying of hands, all that fun stuff, and I find this conversation very very interesting. I think the biggest thing I have to say, for now, is these are the kind of conversations we need. I think that Catholics in general have gotten very complacent, and over time have lost their, putting it frankly, fire. I adore praise and worship, frankly it’s where me and God talk the most, and I am frequently renewed and moved during times of prayer in song. I HATE praying in groups, but as you said, it is good to be humbled. I also think though that, sometimes we can get carried away with what we’re saying and try to make our prayer beautiful and a poem. I think that we should stay humble within that prayer too. Also, I suck at personal ‘hidden away’ prayer. Absolutely awful. Anyway, off topic, I want to thank you two because this is the discussion I think more people should be having. No one has faith 100% down, if we did, our lives wouldn’t really be a journey. By talking to others and learning more about each other and how others pray we can relearn things we’ve lost. I’m totally gonna be listening to all these podcasts and sharing it with AT least one other person, who is very involved with a lot of Protestant churches, but is Catholic. I think she’ll get a kick out of this and she might spread it more. Anyway, I’ll probably be updating my journey through your discussions, but either way, I’m absolutely loving this so far. Keep up the awesome work!
